Video files are large — a 5-minute recording can be 200–500 MB. Storing and delivering video across generations has real infrastructure costs that text and audio do not. We charge for video to recover those costs, and expect prices to fall over time.

📖 How to Capture Your Memories
You have six ways to add a memory — each one is automatically saved and transcribed. Here's when to use each:

Write
Type your memory directly in the text box. Best when you want to write your own words carefully, or when you're editing a transcript that was captured by voice or video. Great for short, precise entries.

Voice (gold button)
Speak your memory — just tap the gold microphone and talk naturally. When you stop, your words are automatically transcribed to text via Whisper AI. Your voice recording is also saved as an audio file so future generations can hear your voice. The easiest way to capture a memory quickly.

Video (green button)
Record yourself on your webcam telling the story. Your words are transcribed to text AND the video is saved permanently so future generations can watch you. Best for stories you want your family to see and hear you tell in person. Requires a paid plan.

Doc
Attach a text document — PDF, Word, or .txt file. The content is read and can be reviewed alongside your memory. Good for attaching letters, old diaries, or typed stories.

Audio
Upload an existing audio recording — a voice memo, an old interview, a phone call recording. The file is transcribed to text automatically. Good for audio you already have saved on your device.

Attach Video
Upload a video file you already have — a home movie, a phone video, a family video. The audio is transcribed to text and the video is stored permanently. Requires a paid plan.
💡 Tip: You can combine methods — speak a memory first to get the words down quickly, then add a video of you telling the story. Everything goes into the same memory record.
